Union Budget 2024: Odisha gets Rs 10,586 cr for Railways

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a record allocation of Rs 10,586 crore for the development of Railway projects in Odisha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is keen on enhancing the state's infrastructure and personally reviews progress. The allocation during BJP governance has increased twelve-fold compared to the UPA regime.

In a record, Rs 10,586 crore has been allocated to Odisha for the development of various Railway projects in the State, informed Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday.

Addressing a press meet, Vaishnaw said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very much interested in scaling up Railway infrastructure in Odisha and he himself reviews the progress of various ongoing projects in the State.”

“During the UPA regime, Odisha used to get only Rs 838 crore. However during BJP governance, the allocation has increased by 12 times showcasing centres' plans for development in Odisha,” Vaishnaw added.

“As many as 40 projects are ongoing in Odisha where Rs 54,434 crore will be invested. The railway projects in Odisha will see a massive transformation during the third term of PM Modi,” the Railway Minister informed, adding that, “Odisha’s railway network has achieved 100 per cent electrification, while 59 railway stations including Cuttack and Bhubaneswar will be redeveloped as Amrit Bharat Station.”

As many as 427 flyovers and underpasses have been constructed in Odisha since 2014, Vaishnaw stated.
