Two bike riders lost their lives after the two-wheeler they were riding was hit by a speeding truck near Talanagar square on National Highway-16 near Balasore’s Soro on late Friday night.
While one of the deceased belonged to Manatri village under Soro police limits, the identity of the other rider is yet to be ascertained as his head has been crushed under the wheels of the truck.
As per reports, both the deceased were returning home from Bhadrak when the mishap occurred late Friday night. It is learnt that their bike was hit by the truck coming from the opposite direction on the Highway near a diversion put up by the NHAI for road construction work.
Following the mishap, some passersby informed police who then rescued the bodies from the road and sent them to Soro hospital for autopsy.
Meanwhile, police have launched a probe in this connection as the driver of the truck fled the spot after the accident.
