Two minors killed, 5 hurt as truck hits auto-rickshaw in Odisha’s Jajpur

Two members of a family died while five others were injured after the auto-rickshaw they were travelling in was hit by a truck on the National Highway near Sharma Hotel under Jajpur’s Panikoili block in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The deceased included a 12-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy.

As per reports, the family from Bhadrak was going to Puri in an auto-rickshaw to avail darshan of Lord Jagannath when the mishap occurred.

The injured have been rushed to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the auto-rickshaw was completely mangled. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.

Panikoili Police reached the spot following the mishap and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
