Two teachers from Odisha have been selected to receive the coveted National Teachers’ Award for 2023.
The names of the teachers are- Sashi Sekhar Karsharma, Headmaster of Kenduapada Government High School under Bhadrak’s Bonth block and Subash Chandra Rout, a retired teacher from Jagatsinghpur.
Speaking about the award, Karsharma said, “I am very happy to have been chosen to receive the coveted award. Prizes act as inspiration to go ahead and excel in life. I am sure this award will help me work harder.”
“There has been a change this year. While 45 teachers were given the award every year, this year the number has risen to 50 and that included handicapped teachers too,” he added.
The second awardee, Subash Chandra Rout said, “I thank the government for choosing me for the National Teachers’ Award. I want to extend my gratitude to the students, my colleagues and my family. They supported me all through my career as a teacher. My primary aim was the success of my students, development of my school and to instill pure humanity in the students.”
"Teaching is not a profession but a dedication. When we have joined the department to develop a healthy human resource for our society, then it should be our duty to upkeep its dignity. Teaching is not for those who want just the salary," Rout added.
