Two youth lost their lives and one sustained critical injuries in a tragic road accident. The incident occurred late on Monday night near Mahulakhal under Kaliapani police station limits in Odisha’s Jajpur district. The mishap took place when five youths from the local area were returning home in a car.

High Speed Causes Vehicle to Lose Control

As per reports, the vehicle lost balance while taking a turn at high speed and rammed into a roadside tree. The impact of the collision was severe, causing the immediate death of two of the occupants. One of the youths was admitted to a nearby hospital in critical condition, while the other two sustained minor injuries.

Victims Identified by Police

The deceased have been identified as Bishwanath Mahanta of Kaduabandi and Sanjay Kumar Mahanta of Mahulakhal.

Passersby Alert Authorities After Spotting Wreckage

According to sources, no one witnessed the accident as it occurred, but a few passersby noticed the wreckage shortly after and immediately called for help. The trapped individuals were rescued from the mangled vehicle and rushed to the hospital. The police were also informed during the rescue effort.

Police Launch Investigation

Kaliapani police arrived at the scene and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the crash.
