Training programme for Odisha MLAs on August 17-18; JP Nadda to share insights
Around 60 first-time MLAs in the first government of BJP in Odisha will receive training on what should be their roles and how they will face a strong Opposition like BJD.
The training workshop for the MLAs in the Odisha Legislative Assembly will be held on August 17 and 18. While Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram impart training on August 17, Union Health Minister JP Nadda will share key points with the participants on August 18.
Minister Nadda will teach the first-time MLAs about what should be their roles in the House, how to counter the Opposition, how to give importance to local issues and what should be their behaviour in the House.
The Union Minister will also give tips to other legislators including those of the Opposition BJD party on House management and rules relating to the Assembly.
“An orientation programme for MLAs in Odisha Assembly is going to be held on August 17 and 18. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Health Minister JP Nadda and some senior MLAs of Odisha Assembly will take part in the programme,” said Mukesh Mahaling, Odisha Parliamentary Affairs Minister.

At the same time, BJP is going to organize its Core Committee meeting on August 16. It will be its first such meeting after coming to power in Odisha. While the meeting will be attended by Kshetriya Pravari Sunil Bansal and two Pravaris Bijay Pal Singh Tomar and Lata Ushendi, topics like who will go to Rajya Sabha and who will be rehabilitated in the vacant corporations and boards will be discussed. They will also review the implementation of the plans adopted at the state executive meeting.
It has been discussed that the party may either send anyone among Manmohan Samal, Samir Mohanty, Golak Mohapatra and Bishweswar Tudu to Rajya Sabha or repeat Mamata Mohanta.
“They may discuss topics like the requirement of the Centre, the party’s organisation here and how better services can be provided to people with the coordination between the state and the Centre. They may also discuss about the Rajya Sabha seat,” said Sukant Panigrahi, BJP MLA.
