At least 10 passengers onboard a private bus sustained grievous injuries after the vehicle heading to Bhubaneswar from Sundargarh ploughed into a trawler on NH-16 near Bhanapur in Cuttack early Saturday morning.
Sources said, the bus hit the trawler from rear, allegedly as its driver dozed off at the wheels. Most of the passengers were sleeping at the time of the incident and sustained injuries. The driver also sustained grievous injuries in the tragic road mishap.
On being informed, local police with the help of fire tender teams rescued the injured and rushed them to Cuttack-based SCB Medical College and Hospital.
The intensity of the mishap was so high that the front portion of the bus was completely damaged.
Further probe into the incident is on, reports said.
