Stuck in Saudi Arabia without pay for months, six Odia migrant workers urged BJP Vice President and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda for their immediate rescue. Through a video message, the workers shared that they were not even given two square meals a day and were kept hungry for days together.
With folded hands, the workers requested the BJP National VP, known for rescuing many Odia workers, to take immediate steps and help them return home safely. Promised of better wages, the six workers, two from Kendrapara and four from Khurdha, were reportedly taken to Saudi.
They are now made to work for lengthy hours under extreme conditions without pay for months. Their employer has allegedly seized their passport and is giving them life threats. Stuck amidst a desert, the workers are not able to come out and requested help through a video message.
“We are pleading with the company that sent us here to take us back home. However, they are least bothered. Apart from lengthy working hours, they are not even giving us food properly. They are not even paying us or giving our passports. Instead, they are threatening us,” alleged Khirod Kumar Patra.
Similarly, another stuck migrant worker said, “They have kept us in a desert area because of which we are not able to go anywhere. The company that sent us here is also not responding to our calls. They are not arranging for our rescue or sending us food at least. We are six of us from Odisha, four from Khordha and two from Kendrapara. We request Odisha government to kindly rescue us.”
“I request Baijayant Panda to take notice of our plight and rescue us immediately,” he added.
