Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the first session of the 17th Odisha Assembly that begins on July 22.

The Odisha Police has put in place a three-tier security cover in and around the Assembly. As many as 30 platoons of police forces have been deployed for the security purpose. Apart from it, bomb squads, dog squads, striking forces and SOG Jawans have also been deployed.

Armed police forces have also been deployed. The entire Assembly premises has been kept under CCTV surveillance. 

As per reports, all the roads en route to the Assembly will be diversified. The protesting areas in Master Canteen and Lower PMG have been kept under CCTV surveillance. As many as three barricades have been put up to bar the protestors from breaking into the Assembly premises. Apart from it, barricades have also been put in place around the Assembly. Armed forces have been deployed at the entry points of the Assembly.

Police DG Arun Sarangi himself reached the spot on Sunday and took stock of the security arrangements before the start of the Assembly session.

Sarangi also held a meeting regarding the security arrangement with Bhubaneswar DCP, Police Commissioner, vigilance Director and other senior police officials. As per sources, proper arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the period.
