Three cousins (brothers) lost their lives in a road accident and were cremated together in a single ceremony on Friday in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district, creating a deeply mournful atmosphere in the locality.

The deceased have been identified as Sagar Jain, Ankur Jain, and Krish Jain, all residents of Siraguda Sahi in Jharigaon. The accident occurred while they were travelling to Pufugaon. Their car reportedly lost control and struck a tree near Dainiguda, along the Jharigaon–Dabugaon main road.

According to reports, two of the brothers died at the scene while Krish Jain succumbed to injuries near Salur Ghat while being shifted to Visakhapatnam for treatment. 

Following post-mortem at Jharigaon Medical Centre, the final rites were performed on Friday. The three bodies were cremated together on a single funeral platform. The rare joint cremation ceremony evoked deep sorrow among the villagers and family members.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, with residents describing the atmosphere as heart-breaking. The loss of three young members from the same family in a single incident has left the community in a state of profound grief.
