There are a lot of people who usually come up with bizarre excuses when someone asks them to accompany to the police station for any work. There was also a time when many would fear upon seeing a police officer. But things have undergone a sea change owing to people's friendly approach and massive changes in the policing system in several parts of the country, including Odisha.
A Police Station in Odisha's Nuapada is now in news and has turned into a tourist spot for the local residents. Reason, the beautiful garden at Sadar Police station.
"Earlier, we were feeling scared to come to police station. Now, we are coming here twice daily for its garden," said Pramila, a local resident.
"After the park was inaugurated, children are also happy here and interacting with police. Children are also coming to know about police," said Kusum, another local resident.
With lush green grass and a variety of flowers, be it roses, marigold, and others, the police station provides an ambiance of peace and has become a source of entertainment as well as a space to connect with nature.
Be it during the morning or evening hours, a large number of people are now coming to the garden at the police station to spend some quality time. DIG Charan Singh Meena recently dedicated the garden to the public during his Nuapada visit. Meena said that similar provision will also be made at other police stations.
"It is an attempt to provide a friendly atmosphere which will strengthen the bond between police and public. I congratulate the efforts of the district police," said Meena.
