Tension flared up at a private clinic in Balasore on Friday after a doctor stopped a woman's uterus surgery mid-way.
According to sources, Ranjan Biswal of Kuruda area had admitted his wife to a local private clinic named Jayashree Healthcare and Research Centre for uterus surgery. Dr. Anup Ghosh, engaged at the private clinic, had fixed April 5th as the date for the operation.
While the operation was underway, Dr. Ghosh left the operation mid-way, saying the patient is in a critical condition and the operation can’t be performed. He advised Ranjan to take his wife to a bigger hospital.
Dr. Ghosh also stitched back the patient and the hospital authorities continued to keep the patient for two days after the botched operation.
As the condition of the patient was deteriorating, Ranjan on Friday created a ruckus on the clinic premises, holding the doctor and clinic authorities responsible for his wife’s health condition.
Though Ranjan threatened the clinic authorities to lodge a police complaint, he had not lodged any complaint at the time of filing this report.
“Sir called me and said it is a major case and operation can’t be done here. Take your wife to a hospital either in Cuttack or Bhubaneswar. By that time, my wife’s stomach had already been cut open. He ended his duty by putting the stitches," said the victim's husband.
In this regard, Srikant Mohapatra, the owner of the clinic said, “The operation was not stopped mid-way, but the doctor found some issues. While operating he found discrepancies in the ultrasound report and then stopped the operation. The doctor has just visited the patient and our staff is also treating her."
