Tension ran high at Tata Steel Plant in Kalinganagar, Jajpur after displaced families engaged in a tense face-off with security personnel. A confrontation unfolded at the Tata Steel facility's main gate, with several people getting injured.

According to sources, several tribal families who were displaced due to the industrial developments were staging a demonstration at the entrance of the plant. The situation escalated after a few protesters tried to break open the main gate and enter the premises of the plant, leading to a confrontation with the security personnel.

The protestors attempted to breach the plant's perimeter, resulting in a direct clash with the plant's security forces. According to reports, more than seven individuals sustained injuries in the ensuing skirmish, allegedly due to the strong response from the security personnel.

Local police and administrative officials had to rush to the spot to mediate between the two parties. Despite the serious nature of the incident, representatives from the plant's management and local police have yet to release any statements.

“Tata company with the help of its ‘goons’ is most inhumanely torturing our tribal people. We were here for our rights. But, instead, we were beaten up. We condemn these atrocities on us,” said Babuli Purti, a tribal leader.
