Tension erupts at Utkal University hostel; students lock gate in protest against warden

The Vani Vihar campus witnessed unrest as tension flared up at the Gopabandhu Hostel of the Utkal University in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

As per reports, in a strong show of protest against the hostel warden, students locked the gate, preventing entry and exit. The situation within the hostel grew increasingly heated, prompting authorities to deploy police forces at the site to prevent further escalation and maintain order.

As per sources, the warden had issued notices to the non-students to leave the hostels and campus immediately. Otherwise, they will be forced to leave the hostel rooms. The warden was on a visit to the campus to take stock of the situation on Tuesday evening. However, there was an exchange of heated arguments between the warden and some students during the conversation. Following the development, some students locked the gate, and as a result, the warden was forced to be inside for a long time.

As per the latest report, though the warden has come out, the students have still locked the gate, and tension continues to prevail on the campus. Police forces have been deployed on the campus to prevent any kind of untoward incident.
