In a major boost to Odisha’s industrial growth, Tata Group is set to invest Rs 63,000 crore in a mega industrial project in Jajpur district. The ambitious project is expected to significantly enhance the state’s manufacturing landscape and create large-scale employment opportunities.

Industries Minister Samapad Swain on Saturday informed that the foundation stone for the project will be laid by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on May 22. The minister shared this important development while addressing the media on Friday.

Job Generation By Tata Group’s Investment

The proposed industrial unit is expected to generate direct and indirect employment for over 34,000 people, making it one of the largest job-creating ventures in the state in recent years. The project also aligns with the Odisha government’s long-term vision of transforming the state into a manufacturing and investment hub.

Minister Swain emphasized that the Tata project would not only boost the economy of Jajpur district but also uplift the surrounding regions by creating a supportive ecosystem for small and medium enterprises. The initiative is being seen as a strategic step in Odisha’s industrial roadmap, with a focus on sustainable development, employment generation, and socio-economic upliftment.

Odisha Government’s Support for Tata Group’s Project

The state government has assured full support in terms of land acquisition, infrastructure development, and statutory clearances to ensure timely execution of the project. Tata Group’s investment is also likely to attract ancillary industries and further investments in sectors like logistics, housing, and education in the region.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi will lay foundation for 12 projects and inaugurate 4 projects on May 22. The total cost of these projects is around Rs 1.14 lakh crore and will generate 34,000 employment opportunities.

Earlier, Odisha had signed MoU for industrial projects worth Rs 63000 crore during the Utkarsh Odisha Conclave.

Foundation stone has been laid for 13 projects and the ground breaking ceremony will be held for 12 more projects this month, the Minister informed.

“Odisha government is committed to industrial development and establish itself as a hub. The Tata will invest Rs 61,000 crore and the ground breaking ceremony will be held on May 22. JSW and Vedanta have also shown keen interest to invest in Odisha,” said Swain.
