The much-anticipated results of the National Film Awards have brought cheer to Odisha, as Pushkara has been officially declared the Best Odia Film. The announcement was made as part of the 71st National Film Awards ceremony.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Subhransu Das and based on the Odia novel ‘Nadabindu’ written by Shankar Tripathy, Tarang Cine Productions’ ‘Pushkara’ delves into themes of tradition, identity, and societal transformation in rural Odisha. The film has already garnered critical praise in several film festivals and now receives its highest honour on the national stage.

The recognition of ‘Pushkara’ as Best Odia Film highlights the growing quality and influence of regional cinema from Odisha, which often remains underrepresented at the national level. This win is expected to inspire a new wave of filmmaking in the State and bring greater attention to Odia stories and storytellers.

Speaking to OTV, Pushkara’s male protagonist, Sabyasachi Mishra, stated, “I feel immensely happy for being associated with an Odia film that has bagged national recognition. This is an unforgettable moment of my life. I could not believe it when I heard the news.”

“It was a brilliant effort by Tarang Cine Productions. They produced such a nice film, which was made at a time when Odia films were not doing well at the box-office. It is a matter of great pride that the film got both recognition and commercial success,” the actor added.

On the other hand, superstar Shah Rukh Khan bagged his first National Award. The King of Romance has been honoured with the Best Actor in a leading role along with actor Vikrant Massey. Shah Rukh Khan received recognition for his powerful performance in the blockbuster film Jawan, while Vikrant Massey was awarded for his critically acclaimed role in 12th Fail.
