This marks another term for Bahinipati at the helm of the women’s wing of the Congress party in Odisha. The appointment has been made with the approval of the party’s national president.
This move is seen as a strategic decision ahead of upcoming political activities in the State, an official communication issued by AICC in this regard mentioned.
“Congress (AICC) President has approved the proposal for the appointment of Smt. Meenakshi Bahinipati as President of the Mahila Congress, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, with immediate effect,” the AICC notification stated.
Bahinipati, known for her grassroots connection and active role in women empowerment initiatives, is expected to energise the organisation at the State level. Her reappointment signals continuity and confidence from the party high command in her leadership capabilities.
This leadership change comes at a time when the Congress is focusing on strengthening its women’s wing to bolster outreach and organisational capacity in Odisha.
No comments were received from the newly appointed Congress leader in this regard.
Worth mentioning, Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Bhubaneswar on July 11. However, the growing discontent over Odisha PCC chief Bhakta Das’s ‘abrupt’ decisions on the district leadership threatens to overshadow the event, stirring unease within the party ranks.
Speculations are doing the rounds ‘whether his visit will help revitalise Congress in Odisha'.
