A suspected dengue death has been reported from Muliabanka area at Badamba in Cuttack district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Duryodhan Dehuri.
According to sources, after Dehuri developed fever, his sample was collected at Maniabandha hospital and it was sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital for testing.
After he tested positive for dengue, he went to a private clinic at Gopapur area. However, the doctor treated him for Typhoid, family members of Dehuri alleged.
When his condition deteriorated, he was immediately rushed to Badamba health centre. But he died while on his way to the hospital, sources informed.
“My father developed a fever. When his blood sample was tested, it came dengue positive. We took him to a private clinic. He was given medicine as prescribed by the doctor, but he died,” alleged Gangadhar, son of the deceased.
“He (Dehuri) was received dead at Badamba hospital. We will launch a joint inquiry to ascertain his cause of death,” said Biswanath Adhek, Badamba Hospital in-charge.
