A woman reportedly attempted suicide along with her two daughters by consuming pesticide in Bandhuberna village under Lahunipada area in Sundargarh district of Odisha. The woman, allegedly fed up with the constant torture by her alcoholic husband, took the drastic step on Thursday night.
Husband’s Alcohol Addiction Led To Constant Conflict
According to reports, the husband had been consuming alcohol every day and frequently fought with his wife. The woman, distressed by the daily conflict, had repeatedly tried to reason with him and urged him to quit drinking. She had also pointed out that guardians at their daughters’ school had begun raising concerns over his behaviour. However, after her efforts failed and the husband returned home drunk again on Thursday night and picked a fight, the woman decided to take the extreme step.
The woman first consumed pesticide stored at home for agricultural use. She then mixed the same pesticide into a carbonated drink and gave it to her two daughters. Following this, all three began vomiting.
Immediate Medical Help Saved Lives
Family members, upon discovering the situation, rushed all three to the emergency ward of Bonai Hospital. The woman was later shifted to the female medicine ward, while both children were transferred to the paediatrics department at Rourkela for better treatment. Their condition was last reported to be stable due to timely medical assistance.
