Ahead of the disbursal of the first installment of financial assistance under the mega Subhadra Yojana in Odisha, the state government on Saturday started measures and decided to create awareness through special raths. BJP National Vice-President and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda also flagged off Subhadra Yojana awareness raths at a special function held at Sanskrutik Bhawan in Kendrapara.

While speaking on the occasion, Panda said Prime Minister Narendra Modi keeps his promises. During the 2024 elections, Subhadra Yojana was a major guarantee of Modi government. Now, this double-engine government in Odisha has launched the scheme. It is a historic day as the mega scheme would benefit women beneficiaries across the state, said Panda.

"We have seen that the schemes which are launched through DBT have been helpful for families to become self-reliant. There is comprehensive coverage in Subhadra Yojana as apart from those getting any assistance of Rs 1500 per month, others are eligible. There is almost 100 percent Aadhaar coverage and crores of Jandhan accounts have also been opened," said the Kendrapara MP.

“There is no scope of leakage as it will be done through DBT. During 1985-86, the then Prime Minister had claimed that only 15 paisa was used to reach people in various schemes. But through DBT, Rs 50,000 will reach the women beneficiaries. Earlier, the beneficiaries were not getting benefits. Now the beneficiaries will get all the benefits of the Subhadra Yojana,” said Panda.

Panda further said that more than one woman from a family is also eligible and ensures comprehensive coverage. "BJP’s plan under PM Modi’s vision is to ensure last mile delivery of the Subhadra Yojana," he added.

Kendrapara MLA, Ganeswar Behera said, “Subhadra Yojana will be launched on September 17. As many people are not aware, the government today rolled out awareness raths to empower women. Six vehicles will move places in Kendrapara. We welcome the initiative as it aims at women empowerment.”

Kendrapara Collector Smruti Ranjan Pradhan said, “We will try to cover maximum places in the district. We have also fixed vehicle-wise nodal office. Subhadra forms are being received at 1024 Common Service Centres. We are going to set up 257 additional receiving centres with assistance of banks.”
