The Titilagarh police on Saturday arrested Akash Sahu, a CSC employee, for allegedly demanding Rs 100-130 from Subhadra Yojana beneficiaries for the registration process. The complaint was filed by Titilagarh BDO. SDPO Ankita Kumbhar confirmed the allegations and warned of strict action against those involved.

The Titilagarh police on Saturday arrested a Common Services Centre (CSC) employee on the charges of allegedly demanding money from Subhadra Yojana beneficiaries for the registration and application process. The accused has been identified as Akash Sahu, son of Santosh Sahu of Manigaon village under Titilagarh police limits in Bolangir district.

Akash was allegedly demanding Rs 100-130 from women applicants for the registration process and providing application forms. The matter came to the fore after a complaint was filed in this connection by Titilagarh BDO.

Based on a complaint by the BDO, police registered a case and made the arrest. He will be produced before the court today, informed SDPO Ankita Kumbhar. 

Talking to media persons, the SDPO said, “Based on a complaint by Titilagarh BDO, we have registered a case against Akash Sahu, son of Santosh Sahu of Manigaon village. As per the complaint, Akash was charging Rs 100 each from the applicants for the registration of Subhadra Yojana which is free of cost.”

“We first conducted a probe and found the complaint to be true. Accordingly, we registered a case and made the arrest. He will be forwarded to the court. Further investigation is on and others involved in such fraud will be taken to task,” she added.

She appealed all the women applicants to not give any bribes and said, “This is a free-of-cost scheme by the government and I appeal to the applicants to not give money to anyone and register a complaint if someone is demanding money.”

Worth mentioning, at least 5 people have been arrested in the state capital Bhubaneswar for demanding bribe for Subhadra Yojana. Meanwhile, the Odisha government has warned of strict action against those demanding money for Subhadra Yojana.
