The Odisha government will release the fifth phase of the first instalment of its ambitious programme Subhadra Yojana today (March 6).

According to sources, as many as 1,85,000 beneficiaries will get the assistance credited to their bank accounts today. With this, a total of approximately 1.20 crore beneficiaries will be covered under the scheme across the five phases.

Currently, the total number of applications for the scheme has reached 1.08 crore, and the application process is still ongoing. The government has set March 31 as the last date to apply for the scheme.

The Odisha government will launch a comprehensive survey to identify the left out eligible beneficiaries. Officials will conduct a door-to-door survey to identify eligible applicants who have not yet received benefits.

Beneficiaries found eligible through the survey will receive three pending instalments together on Raksha Bandhan (Rakhi Purnima), sources said.

Subhadra Yojana: Things You Should KnowS

Subhadra Yojana, inaugurated on 17th September 2024 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is a flagship initiative aimed at empowering over 10 million women aged between 21 and 60. 

Under this scheme, each eligible woman receives Rs 10,000 annually, disbursed in two instalments of Rs 5,000 each on Raksha Bandhan and International Women's Day, amounting to Rs 50,000 over five years.

The funds are directly transferred into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, promoting financial inclusion. 

To qualify, applicants must be residents of Odisha with an annual family income not exceeding Rs 2.5 lakh, and should not be government employees, income-tax payers, or beneficiaries receiving over Rs 1,500 per month from other government schemes.
