Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Wednesday informed that as many as 157 men (transgenders) applied for the prestigious Subhadra Yojana. Though the scheme is meant for women, 157 males had registered for the ambitious scheme of the Odisha government, the deputy CM said.
“It's intriguing how so many men applied for Subhadra Yojana, even as it is women-centric. It came to our notice that 157 men had applied for the scheme after the KYC of Aadhaar Card and bank linkage was done. However, they were subsequently dropped from the beneficiaries list,” the Deputy CM informed.
“Sometimes, the names of both men and women are same. But, we checked their KYC and rejected their applications,” the Deputy CM added.
A day back, the Deputy Chief Minister had appealed to eligible women living and working outside the state to consider applying for the ambitious Subhadra Yojana at the earliest. The fourth phase of the first instalment will be disbursed soon.
