Students ‘deprived of exams, forced out of school gate for not wearing shoes’
In a shocking incident, the headmaster of Rajasunakhala Government High School in Nayagarh district allegedly assaulted and verbally abused students for attending school without shoes. The incident has sparked widespread concern among parents and students.
According to reports, during the morning prayer session, the headmaster allegedly beat several students who had not worn shoes and forced them out of the school gate. The students were made to stand outside the school gate for a long time as punishment.
Some students claimed they were also insulted by the HM, who used abusive language.

“He is asking us to wear shoes while we have not been given any. He is also asking us to wear school uniform. When we said that we had not been given a uniform, he told us to buy one with our fathers’ money,” alleged a student.
“We were supposed to write our exam. But we missed out on our exams. They have also not put our names in attendance,” alleged another student.
The matter escalated when the aggrieved students staged a protest outside the school premises. They alleged that instead of being allowed to sit for their scheduled examinations, the headmaster compelled them to clean the school campus and perform other tasks. This has intensified anger among students and parents, raising questions about the conduct of the school authority.
The incident came to the notice of the District Education Officer (DEO) of Nayagarh, who has ordered an inquiry. A committee has been formed to investigate the matter thoroughly. The DEO assured that strict action will be taken against the headmaster if the allegations are proven true.
“A committee has been formed, and the matter will be investigated. Necessary action will be taken against those found guilty after the probe. Schools are punishment-free. No one can punish the students. However, such incidents have been happening. We had not received any complaints in this regard. Now, we will take appropriate action in this regard,” stated the DEO.
Meanwhile, the accused headmaster has not yet issued any response to the charges levelled against him.
