In a disturbing safety breach, a man was arrested for hurling stones at the Howrah-bound Jan Shatabdi Express (Train No. 12074), on Friday. The incident, which occurred early this morning between Bhadrak and Randia-Baudpur stations, led to broken windows.

Fortunately, no fatalities or injuries were reported in the incident.
According to sources, the Railway Police have arrested a man accused of throwing stones at the Jan Shatabdi Express in Bhadrak district. The attack took place in the morning as the train was travelling towards Howrah. The incident occurred at around 8.15 AM between Randia-Baudpur and Bhadrak railway stations.
Target of the stone attack was coach number D/13, where the force of impact shattered a windowpane. However, no passenger or railway staffs were harmed in the stone hurling.
Following a complaint received by the Khurda Road Divisional Security Control, the Railway Police launched a rapid trackside search operation. The accused man was soon traced and apprehended.
Authorities have not disclosed the motive behind the illegal act, and further investigation is underway. Railway officials reiterated their commitment to passenger safety and urged the public to report suspicious activities near railway tracks.
No comments were received from the railway authorities in this regard.
Earlier in another incident, Puri-Hatia Tapaswini Express was allegedly attacked with stones early in the morning of May 17 this year, with one of them hitting an AC coach window and shattering a windowpane.
The impact was so severe that scattered shards had flown inside the affected coach while most passengers were asleep.
The incident had occurred between Rengali and Jharsuguda railway stations at about 5.30 AM when the B/7 coach of the train was targeted, with stones hitting the window adjacent to seat No. 15.
