The visits of 5T Secretary VK Pandian to various parts of Odisha continue to draw severe opposition.
In the latest incident, Pandian’s proposed visit to Khordha has triggered resentment among the sports enthusiasts in the district.
As per reports, ahead of Pandian’s visit to the district, the middle portion of the Khordha stadium ground has been dug up to facilitate the construction of a helipad.
However, the members of Khordha District Cricket Association and sports enthusiasts in the district have expressed their dissatisfaction with the development.
“This is the only stadium in the district and various sports competitions are organised in the stadium. We have been trying hard to develop it as a complete stadium for the last 40 years. But the work is still incomplete. However, the stadium has been dug to construct a helipad on its premises ahead of Pandian sir’s visit which is unfortunate. We request the administration for further development of the stadium,” said Bhabani Shankar Panda, a member of Khordha District Cricket Association.
“Our emotion has been hurt after watching the way the stadium has been dug. Pandian sir could have travelled by road. Many intellectuals including me in the district are baffled over the justification to dig the ground. The helipad could have been constructed somewhere else without damaging the ground,” said Tapan Kumar Samantray, a sports enthusiast.
However, no comments from the district administration could be obtained in this regard.
