The Odisha Government on Thursday issued a major reshuffle in the police administration, transferring and posting 18 IPS/OPS officers across various key positions in the state. A notification was released by the Home Department detailing the new appointments.
According to the order, Dr. Santosh Bala (IPS, 1995 batch) has been posted as Director, SFSL, while Shri S. Praveen Kumar (IPS, 2002 batch) will now serve as IG of Police, Provisioning. Gajbhiyye Satish Kumar Iswardas (IPS, 2002 batch) has been appointed as IG of Police, Special Armed Police, and Sanjay Kumar Kaushal (IPS, 2003 batch) has been shifted to IG of Police, Economic Offences Wing (EOW).
Other notable changes include Avinash Kumar (IPS, 2007), who will head the State Crime Record Bureau, while Dr. Satyajit Naik (IPS, 2008) takes charge as DIG of Police, Central Range. Pinak Mishra (IPS, 2011) has been elevated to DIG of Police, Eastern Range.
Among the district postings, Prateek Singh (IPS, 2014) has been transferred as SP, Puri, Shri Vivekanand Sharma (IPS, 2014) to SP, Khurda, and Parmar Smit Parshottamdas (IPS, 2013) as SP, Crime Branch. Gundala Reddy Raghavendra (IPS, 2019) will now be SP, Jharsuguda, while Ms. Amritpal Kaur (IPS, 2021) has been posted as SP, Sundargarh.
The notification also reassigned Bhawani Shankar Udgata (OPS) as SP, Railway, Cuttack.
The government has forwarded copies of the order to the Ministry of Home Affairs, senior police officials, and district administrations, and has directed publication in the next issue of the Odisha Gazette.
This reshuffle is seen as part of the state’s administrative strategy to strengthen law enforcement and improve efficiency across Odisha.
