A serious allegation of sexual harassment has emerged from a private medical facility at Rourkela in Sundargarh district, where a female employee has accused the Managing Director (MD) of the institution of misconduct. The matter came to light during a public grievance hearing, prompting the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) to assure the victim of swift action within two days.
According to reports, the victim had earlier lodged a complaint at the Uditnagar Police Station. However, due to alleged police inaction, she later submitted a written petition to the grievance cell of the Chief Minister. In response, the CMO sent an official letter to the complainant, assuring her that appropriate action would be taken regarding the incident.
Reacting to the situation, Dr. Chandan Bansal, MD of the concerned private medical facility, stated that he is fully cooperating with the police. He further said that the investigation will reveal who is telling the truth and who is not. Bansal also said that he has full faith in the police and the government.
Meanwhile, there has been no official statement yet from the police regarding the progress of the investigation. The case continues to raise concerns about workplace safety and the responsiveness of law enforcement in sensitive cases of sexual misconduct.
"He (Bansal) came to the office and abused me with foul language. He also assaulted me. Though I lodged an FIR about the incident at Uditnagar Police Station, no action was taken. I was called by the ADM office on July 16, and then action was taken. As he is a big fellow and we are middle-class people, the investigation was not conducted properly. Then I submitted a complaint to the grievance cell. I have been promised that the investigation will be taken forward properly. They have already proceeded in the matter," said the victim.
