Seconds from danger: Royal Bengal Tiger attempts to board ferry filled with tourists in Sundarbans
In a heart-stopping moment at the Sundarbans Wildlife Sanctuary in West Bengal, a Royal Bengal Tiger (RBT) tried to leap onto a moving tourist ferry, causing panic among the passengers onboard.
According to reports, the tourist-loaded launch was cruising through the waterways of the Sundarbans when a tiger suddenly emerged from the nearby mangrove forest. In a shocking turn of events, the big cat attempted to climb onto the vessel, alarming everyone aboard.
Quick-thinking action by the launch’s driver and helper prevented a potential tragedy. They managed to scare the tiger away before it could board the boat. The animal eventually retreated back nto the forest.
Eyewitnesses Describe Terrifying Moment
“We were enjoying the beauty of the Sundarbans when suddenly we saw the tiger charging toward the boat. Everyone was screaming,” said one of the tourists.
No injuries were reported, and after the tiger disappeared into the forest, the passengers gradually calmed down and the launch resumed its journey.
Forest officials have been alerted about the incident. The Sundarbans, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is home to the world’s largest population of Bengal tigers, known for their swimming abilities and occasional bold encounters with humans.
Authorities have advised tour operators to remain cautious and ensure safety protocols are strictly followed during such excursions.
