School student ‘hangs self’ after quarrel over ball with sibling

In a tragic incident, a school student of Hansipatna village under Balasore’s Soro block was found hanging from a tree on Saturday.

The deceased student has been identified as Goutam Lenka.

As per reports, Lenka had a fight with his younger brother over a ball this morning. However, their parents intervened and pacified them.

While Goutam’s younger brother went to school after the quarrel, Goutam was still angry and went somewhere else.

After a frantic search, his parents found Goutam hanging from a tree near their house.

He was immediately rushed to Soro CHC for treatment. However, the doctors pronounced him dead.

“As far as I know, there was not any reason for him to commit suicide. There was no disturbance in their family as well. I heard the two siblings had a fight over a ball this morning. Their parents pacified them. But Goutam got angry and went to a forest. It seems he has hanged himself,” said Hemanta Kumar Mohanty, the uncle of the deceased.

Following the death, police were called in which sent the body for autopsy.
