Even as normal life is yet to come back on track after the large-scale violence in Sambalpur, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National ice-President, Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda on Monday slammed the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) over the entire incident.

The violence and murder which happened in Sambalpur, and the way the ruling party is trying to suppress the matter is really unfortunate.

“We all have seen how Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated peacefully and amid brotherhood in Cuttack or Kendrapara. This is how things should be done and where there has been such negligence, there needs to be transparency, and people of Odisha and the country should know why such an incident occurred in Sambalpur,” said Panda.

According to Panda, the way it is being said as 'Hindu or Muslim area and the issue of process' is totally wrong as in India everybody has a right to go to every place and it is not in our constitution and those who are saying so are wrong.

While responding to media queries over rise in communal unrest and violence, Panda said, “There are some elements who are trying to create communal violence. If we look at their history, they have been trying to incite communal violence after Independence and instigating people.”

According to the BJP National Vice-president, BJP’s motto is “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayaas” to build an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

“The example here is the welfare schemes and huge money being spent by the Centre and there has been no single instance where there has been discrimination against any community or religion. This is the appropriate example of good governance,” Panda added.

BJD MLA, Sarada Nayak said, “BJP should introspect. When incident happened, the government and administration has taken appropriate steps.”
