Odisha CM Mohan Majhi
A team of Bharat Biotech led by chairman Dr Krishna Ella called on Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi at the Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday and discussed about strategic partnership between the state and the biotechnology sector to boost healthcare infrastructure and generate employment.
As per a report published in the New Indian Express, the team also discussed the company’s future expansion plans and Odisha’s growing role in the vaccine manufacturing sector.
A subsidiary of Biovet Pvt Ltd, promoted by Dr Ella- Sapigen Biologix Private Limited, has already set up a major vaccine manufacturing facility at the Biotech Park in Andharua, located on the outskirts of the city.
As per reports, the state-of-the-art facility, set up with an investment of Rs 1,500 crore, has been designed to produce more than 10 types of vaccines for diseases like polio, cholera, and malaria.
Known as one of the largest vaccine manufacturing units in the country, the plant is spread over 10 acres and it has an impressive annual production capacity of eight billion vaccine doses.

As per sources, around 2,000 direct and over 1,500 indirect employment opportunities are expected to be generated by Sapigen Biologix. The initiative will play an important role in nurturing local talent and boosting the region’s economy.
It has been learnt that CM Majhi has assured the Bharat Biotech team all support from the state government to make Odisha a global vaccine production hub.
