In a shocking incident, 12-armed robbers looted several passengers of the Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi Express at gunpoint in Jharkhand on Saturday.
As per reports, the incident occurred at around 11 p.m. when the train was running between Latehar to Barwadih.
Around 12 robbers armed with guns and other weapons entered the S-9 coach and looted many passengers at gunpoint. They robbed ornaments worth lakhs of rupees, cash, and other valuable goods from the passengers by threatening to kill them. They also assaulted some passengers who sustained serious injuries in the attack.
When the train reached Daltonganj, the passengers created a ruckus by raising the security arrangement in the train. As a result, palpable tension gripped the station for some time for the train halted at the station for nearly two hours. Eventually, the train left the station after first aid was provided to the injured passengers.
“The robbers looted ornaments worth lakhs of rupees, cash, and other valuable goods from the passengers of S-9 coach of Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi Express at gunpoint. They also attacked some women and children who sustained injuries in the process,” said a passenger.
Several passengers said that the incident happened due to the careless attitude of the RPF jawans. Some of the passengers even alleged that the jawans had nexus with the robbers.
