Three days after being rescued while walking naked in Sundargarh town, the middle-aged woman and her young daughter returned to their native place in neighbouring Chhattisgarh on Tuesday morning.
As per the proper procedure, the district administration made the necessary arrangements for the return of the mother-daughter duo along with the woman’s sister to their home.
As per reports, they are the residents of Kharibari village under Tumla Jashpur police station in Chhattisgarh. The sister and youngest daughter of the woman reached Sundargarh police station on Monday and identified them.
As per the woman’s sister, the mother-daughter duo is mentally unwell. She stated to the police that the woman has been mentally unstable since her husband’s death who passed away eight years back.
However, the circumstances under which they reached Odisha and why they were roaming around naked are yet to be ascertained.
It is worth mentioning here that the two women were spotted walking along College Road, one of the busiest roads in Sundargarh, with no clothes on. Sundargarh MLA Kusum Tete, who was going to attend a demonstration, spotted them and covered them with shawls.
The incident has spread shockwaves as on-lookers and passers-by, instead of offering help, were spotted recording and taking pictures of them.
