Ratna Bhandar survey to bring clarity on presence of tunnel: Odisha Law Minister

Amidst the apprehensions surrounding the presence of some secret chambers inside the Ratna Bhandar of Puri Srimandir, Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Monday said that soon a survey would be conducted to get clarity.

While talking to reporters, Harichandan said, "As all the cupboards, and chests have been shifted from inner and outer Ratna Bhandar of Puri Srimandir, the priority is now for the repair works after the survey."

The necessary inspection work will be taken up by ASI using the latest technology and equipment. “Whether there is any tunnel under or within the walls of the Ratna Bhandar, a survey will be done to bring clarity,” said Harichandan.

According to the Law Minister, once the repair work of the Ratna Bhandar is completed, steps will be then taken for the counting of the valuables.

“Once the Ratna Bhandar is fully repaired, steps will be taken for the inventorisation process which will be done based on the database of the 1978. We hope that everything matches,” he added.
