On the auspicious occasion of Bhadra Krushna Chaturthi Tithi, the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri will conduct the special ‘Rahurekha Lagi’ ritual of Lord Jagannath and His Siblings on Wednesday. This rare and sacred ritual is held only on specific occasions and is considered highly significant in the temple tradition.

As per the temple administration, the day’s proceedings will begin with the First Bhog Mandap ritual, after which the Rahurekha will be performed from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

During this time, public darshan will remain completely suspended. Devotees will not be allowed inside the sanctum or even into the main temple premises. The Singhadwar (main entrance) will remain closed until the ritual is completed.

The Rahurekha is a golden circular ornament placed on the forehead of the deities, symbolising divine protection and auspiciousness. As it is a confidential and sacred ceremony, it is performed by select servitors behind closed doors without public viewing.

Temple authorities have urged devotees to plan their visits accordingly and have assured that darshan will resume promptly after 6:30 PM, once the ritual is over. Large crowds are expected in the evening as devotees gather for the first glimpse of the deities after the day’s special observance.
