An allegation of ragging has surfaced at the Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (BJB) Autonomous College in Bhubaneswar. Ayushman Pati, a first-year undergraduate student of the Commerce department, has accused another student, identified as Rajan Panda, of misbehaving with him and allegedly forcing him to walk around without clothes on the campus.

According to the complaint, the incident took place on August 1 within the college premises. Ayushman said he immediately lodged a complaint with the college authorities on August 2, and even approached the institution’s Anti-Ragging Cell. However, no action was reportedly taken against the accused.

Finding no other option, Ayushman lodged a complaint at the local police station, sources said.

“I was asked to take off my dress and walk on the college premises. When I refused, he threatened to thrash me. I submitted an application to the anti-ragging committee on August 2, but no action has been taken yet,” alleged the victim student.

“I am being forced to compromise. I fear that, like in the FM College case, action will only be taken after a student ends his life. Nineteen days have passed, yet no action has been initiated,” the student further alleged.

Despite the grave nature of the allegations, no official statement has yet been issued by the college administration, the accused student, or the police.
