A day after the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) cancelled the main written Examination for JE (Civil) conducted on July 16, 2023 over question paper leak, scores of aspirants on Monday staged a demonstration in front of the office of the Commission.
Even though a revised date for the conduct of the exam has been announced by the OSSC, the aspirants staged demonstration and are demanding stern action against the staff and officials allegedly involved in the scam. It is alleged that question paper was leaked after taking huge money from 88 aspirants.
Balasore SP Sagarika Nath confirmed the question paper leak incident on Sunday while briefing the media. Nath informed that from investigation, it is clear that the question papers of the Civil Main Written Exam were leaked before the examination.
Moreover, the question papers seized before the examination match with the original question papers. Nine persons have been arrested in connection with the case, Nath said yesterday.
Subsequently, the OSSC cancelled the JE (Civil) main examination and announced to conduct the exam afresh on September 3.
“The staff sold question paper and when the matter came to light, the exam was cancelled. How can we expect transparency from the OSSC,” questioned one of the aspirants. The aspirants also demanded a statement from OSSC officials.
“When the Balasore Police nabbed some people following raid, we had come here and we were told that it was over CGL matter. Later, we learnt that it was of JE Civil exam,” said an aspirant.
“Under such circumstances, who will guarantee there will be transparency when the exam is re-conducted,” questioned another aspirant.
