Job aspirants put the conduct of the Balasore Police under suspicion by bringing serious charges of shielding Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) officials from facing criminal charges over the recent question paper leak incident.
The aspirants raised many questions like, after a raid on July 15 in connection with the JE civil question paper leak case, why did the police remain silent till July 23? Was there an attempt to hush up the matter? When will the OSSC authorities come under the police scanner?
Apart from this, the candidates also questioned how the police allowed the candidates to take the exam even after the incident came to light.
“Balasore SP admitted the fact that the question paper was leaked only after we staged protest. If it took the police seven days to know that the question paper has been leaked, how did it conclude that the OSSC is not involved in the leak in just one day,” asked a job aspirant.
Another job aspirant alleged, “The police arranged a bus to ferry the examinees to the exam centre who were trying to buy leaked question papers from the brokers. Balasore SP is shielding the OSSC officials who are involved in the question paper leak.”
On the other hand, the police have not been able to arrest anyone else till now except for nine people. According to the police, no one from the OSSC is involved in the racket and the mastermind is from outside the state. It is pertinent to mention here that the OSSC itself prepares question papers and conducts the exam.
Moreover, the police don't even have an answer to how the question paper went to the broker. The police are yet to find out what is the source of the question paper leak and from which level it was leaked.
Former police official, Batakrushna Tripathy said, “The police should first question the supervisors of the OSSC responsible for preparing and safeguarding the question papers."
