Puri Srimandir Nata Mandap restoration work: Amicus curiae submits status report in Orissa HC

Amicus curiae NK Mohanty on Monday submitted a status report in the Orissa High Court regarding the restoration work of Puri Srimandir Nata Mandap (Dancing Hall).

As per sources, Mohanty informed the court that a meeting has been scheduled between December 19 and December 21. A detailed discussion on the beam design and finalisation of the course of action will held during the meeting.

Some works have already been undertaken, including the dismantling of the decorative wooden framed ceiling of the central column area which has been stored in the SJT Museum of the temple complex. Similarly, the de-plastering of the corbel stone members in the four directions with joint sealing of the de-plastering has been done, sources said.

The next hearing on the matter is scheduled to be held on January 18, 2024.

Earlier, a crucial meeting was held in November ahead of the commencement of the restoration works of the Nata Mandap following the High Court’s direction. A No Objection Certificate (NOC) was also submitted to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to start restoration work.
