Tensions escalated sharply at the Infocity Police Station as disgruntled residents stormed the facility in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

As per reports, the protest was triggered by accusations against Ajay Barik, who is alleged to have defrauded more than 50 people through a scheme described as 'mini fund'.

Barik allegedly collected a substantial sum of money from his victims under false pretences.

Demand for justice

Local villagers, particularly from Alasua, reportedly assembled at the police station demanding the repayment of their investments.

Several protestors reportedly raised objections over the police action, questioning why accused Barik was only arrested without the assurance of fund recovery.

Clash with police

Amidst the chaos, reports emerged of altercations involving protestors and police personnel. The protestors reportedly took law in their own hands and clashed with lady police personnel.

The situation underscores the heightened tensions and public frustration surrounding the incident.

"We want our money back. We had caught the accused. However, the police helped him escape," said Soudamini Nayak, a protestor.

"We have heard their grievances. They have been told that the accused has been forwarded as per the lawful procedure. They have been pacified. As per the lodged FIR, they have been defrauded of Rs 8 to 9 lakh. They have been demanding the return of their money. However, we will move as per the lawful procedure. We have forwarded the accused as he was found guilty prima facie," said Bhubaneswar ACP Sonali Singh Parmar.
