The Nursing Director on Tuesday shot off a letter to all government hospital directors and superintendents urging them to take appropriate action in view of the proposed strike by the nursing officers.
In the letter, the Director has clearly stated that already the Odisha government The Odisha government on Tuesday directed the Directorate of Nursing to take appropriate action if the nursing officers go ahead with their cease-work agitation from September 25.
In a letter, the Director informed that already the Odisha government has imposed the Essential Services (Maintenance) Act for a period of six months from the month of August.
Earlier, the Nursing Association had submitted a representation stating that nursing service in all non-emergency departments, including general wards, OPD, and routine OT will be withdrawn by nursing officers in all government-run hospitals across the state on September 25 and September 26 and indefinite cease work from September 27 over their several demands.
“Hence, you are requested to take immediate appropriate action against the nursing officers and also report about the strikes in the form of cessation of work by nursing officers,” the letter read.
Later in the day, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling informed that the nursing officers association has been called for discussion on Wednesday. He also said the government is hopeful that the outcome will be positive and there will be no disruption in healthcare services.
