In an effort to ensure discipline and improve the overall experience for devotees, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has initiated steps to streamline the functioning of Anand Bazar inside the Puri Srimandir premises.
A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Administrator Aravind Padhee on Tuesday discussed key reforms aimed at regulating the sale and consumption of Abadha. The administration is set to introduce a fixed price list for Abadha and ‘Sukhili Bhog’ items to curb irregularities and ensure transparency.
Separate counters will be established for the sale and consumption of ‘Sukhili Bhog’ and Mahaprasad. The SJTA has also directed that only Omfed ghee be used in the preparation of bhog. Action will be taken against Suar and Mahasuar servitors violating this norm.
Discussions were also held on the daily supply of firewood, which currently stands at 35 quintals, to ensure uninterrupted cooking at the temple kitchen. Plans are underway to introduce organic rice for the preparation of bhog.
The meeting further proposed implementing a dress code and identity cards for Supakar servitors’ assistants working in Anand Bazar to maintain hygiene and discipline.
“A detailed discussion on various issues concerning Anand Bazar was held during the meeting. Additionally, the functioning of newly constructed shops for Khaja sale was discussed. The matter of ensuring sufficient firewood supply for Srimandir was also taken up,” said Narayan Mahasuara, secretary of the Suara-Mahasuar Nijog.
