People of Odisha, a culturally rich state with great hospitality, vibrant culture, and heritage, on Monday celebrated Utkala Dibasa or Odisha Day. The day is celebrated with great pomp and joy to commemorate the formation of modern Odisha on April 1, 1936.
As Odisha marks the historic day of its 88th year of formation, Odias are remembering the great sacrifices of their forefathers and freedom fighters. Greetings from Odias and eminent personalities across the globe are pouring in on the proud occasion.
President Droupadi Murmu took to 'X' and greeted people on Utkala Dibasa. "...Odisha is known for its vast natural wealth and rich cultural heritage. The resilient people of this state have made great contribution in the development of Odisha and the country. Odisha has produced many icons over the centuries, including several makers of modern India. May Lord Jagannath bless the state and its people with greater success and prosperity," tweeted the President
"Wishing everyone a very Happy Utkala Dibasa! This day reminds us of the rich culture and heritage of Odisha and its dynamic people. The state has made a rich contribution to national progress. I pray for the success and prosperity of the people of Odisha," tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Similarly, BJP National Vice-President Baijayant Panda also greeted the people of Odisha on Utkala Dibasa.
Achievements of this land of Lord Jagannath are less talked about but more visible on the ground. Utkala Dibasa is not just a celebration of Odisha’s formation, but also a celebration of its rich cultural wealth, heritage, colourful architecture, folk music, dance form, paintings, tourist attractions, traditional Odia recipes and all that the state has to offer. The beauty and grace of India is greatly enhanced by the contributions of the wonderful people of this extraordinary state.
