President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended best wishes to the people of Odisha on the occasion of Utkal Dibasa. Murmu, who hails from Odisha, took to Twitter and greeted all on the statehood day.
The President of India tweeted, "My greetings to fellow citizens, especially to the people of the State, on Odisha Day. With abundant natural resources, skilled and industrious people, Odisha has the potential to be the growth engine of our economy. My best wishes for a bright future of the people of Odisha."
Extending wishes to the people of the State on the occasion, PM Modi acknowledged the rich role of Odisha and its culture in the progress of the nation. He added that Odia people are making landmark contributions to India’s progress.
“Best wishes on Utkala Dibasa. This is a day to acknowledge the rich role of Odisha, Odia people, and culture in the progress of our nation. May the people of Odisha be blessed with good health and prosperity in the times to come,” the PM wrote.
CM Naveen Patnaik also extended wishes on Utkal Dibasa and wrote, “Heartiest greetings and congratulations to all on the occasion of Odisha Day. On this occasion, I pay my respects to the elite leaders of the creation of a separate Odisha state. Let's maintain the pride and dignity of the Odisha community and continue with determination to build a new Odisha, an ambitious Odisha.”
BJP National Vice-President Baijayant Panda also extended best wishes to the people of Odisha on the occasion of Utkal Dibasa.
“Odisha is my pride. I am proud of my language, culture, heritage, and traditions. Hearty congratulations and best wishes to my dear Odisha people on the occasion of Utah Day today. Utkal Janni in prison. Jai Jagannath,” he tweeted.
Notably, Utkal Dibasa marks the formation of present-day Odisha as a separate state under the British in 1936 by splitting Bihar and Orissa provinces. It was called Orissa before its name was changed to Odisha in 2011.
