The Odisha government is anticipating a surge in investment following successful efforts to attract investors during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conclave, aimed at connecting with the Indian diaspora and appealing to those interested in contributing to India and specifically Odisha.
Odisha Deputy Chief Minister, KV Singh Deo, has expressed confidence in increasing investment traction, noting the significant platform that the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conclave offered for showcasing opportunities.
The Deputy CM highlighted a shift in investment patterns, stating, "In the past, the previous BJD (Biju Janata Dal) led administration sought investments from overseas and other states. Today, we have investors willing to come directly to Odisha."
He also expressed concerns about the effectiveness of earlier efforts by the state government, questioning the number of past Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) that materialised.
“There is a notable increase in interest from non-resident Indians (NRIs), with plans for several MOUs to be signed during the Utkarsh Odisha Conclave to further cement commitment to boosting regional investment,” he added.
"Pravasi Bharatiyas were mesmerized by the beauty of Odisha," said Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida.
She added, "They will definitely visit again, and there is immense potential for Odisha to grow in the tourism sector."
"We are considering organizing a Pravasi Odia Divas. NRIs have discussed the possibilities with the concerned officials, and we will extend invitations for them to reconnect with their birthplace," said Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan.
