Five-time MP from Bhubaneswar, Prasanna Patasani finally snapped ties with the BJD and joined the BJP.
After embracing the saffron party in the presence of BJP’s Bhubaneswar MP, Aparajita Sarangi, he spewed venom at the conch party. He said the party for which he was struggling, is no longer the same one.
“The party for which I was fighting is no longer the same party. I blame none but Pandian for inflicting so much pain. Now we will work together,” said Patasani.

“He is a five-time MP from Bhubaneswar. He has guided me on several occasions. Today, he joined BJP in my office and it is a great opportunity for me. We all know him as a poet, an experienced person and above all, a great politician. He is with us. I am sure, his presence will give me immense strength,” said MP Sarangi.
Patasani was an MP from Bhubaneswar from 1998 to 2019. In the 2019 general elections, he was dropped. In the 2024 general elections, he was one of the ticket aspirants for the Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seat but the party denied him a ticket. The party instead fielded Manmath Routray, son of senior leader Suresh Routray. He then eyed for the Chilika Assembly constituency, but the BJD nominated Raghunath Sahu from there.
