Pradeep Jena emerged victorious in the high-profile Bhubaneswar Club elections, securing the position of President on Sunday.
Jena defeated Asit Tripathy in a closely contested battle. The presidential race witnessed a powerful face-off between two former Chief Secretaries, Asit Tripathy and Pradeep Jena.
As per sources Bhubaneswar Club witnessed the toughest electoral battle between two candidates for the president post since its inception in 1949.
As per sources, Jena won the keenly contested election by a margin of 18-20 votes.

"I would like to thank all the members of the club. I could not make a big campaign. I was only able to contact all the members telephonically. I had called nearly 1600 people. I believed in directly approaching the people and left it to them. I respect the decision of all the members," said Jena after winning the election.
"As per my promise, the chamber of the club president will have a glass door as others from outside will be able to see what the president is doing inside. We will pass it in the executive body meeting that president and secretaries could not be elected more than twice in their lifetimes. I will also ensure transparency and acountability. We will also focus on the other activities of the club," he added.
