Politics warms up over pension hike; BJP, Cong dub it BJD's lollipop

BJP leader Lekhashree Samant Singhar said, “When the BJD sees elections round the corner, it always comes out with lollipops of different kinds to various sections of people. The BJD and its government always believe in false assurance. I can remind you of some schemes like PEETHA, KALIA and Biju Yuba Bahini which had been launched earlier.”

Politics warmed up over the hike of pension under social security schemes like Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY) and National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) in Odisha.

A day after the state government announced to hike the pension amount from Rs 500 to Rs 1000 to beneficiaries, the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) on Sunday dubbed it as BJD's lollipop to voters ahead of upcoming elections, and promised to pay Rs 3000 as a monthly pension if it is voted to power.
