Commissionerate Police issues traffic advisory ahead of Singapore President’s Odisha visit
A security delegation from Singapore has arrived in Bhubaneswar to finalise arrangements ahead of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s visit, who will be in Odisha on January 17 and 18 to attend various programmes in Bhubaneswar.
The team is working closely with the local Commissionerate Police to ensure comprehensive security measures are in place. In a bid to assure an immaculate security shield during this high-profile event, 40 platoons of police officers are set to be deployed. The visiting dignitary's itinerary will encompass Bhubaneswar and the pilgrim town of Puri, both of which will be placed under heightened security.
The Commissionerate Police have enacted a comprehensive security scheme, ensuring that all vulnerabilities are addressed prior to the President's arrival. The city of Bhubaneswar will witness robust safeguarding measures, particularly with the visit to significant sites in Puri.
In view of security concerns and to ensure smooth traffic flow, the Commissionerate Police has announced certain traffic restrictions on these days.
The following roads will be closed for vehicular movement during specified times:
January 17 (Friday):
10:50 am to 11:40 am: Airport Square, Hospital Square, AG Square, Raj Bhavan Square, Gopabandhu Square, OUAT Square, City Women’s Square, Delta Square, Fire Station Square, Baramunda Flyover, Khandagiri Flyover, Cosmopolis Square, Dumduma Underpass, Gail Station Underpass.
2:40 pm to 3:20 pm: Gail Station Underpass, Khandagiri Flyover, Baramunda Flyover, Fire Station Flyover, CRP Flyover, Jaydev Vihar Flyover, Acharya Vihar Flyover, Vani Vihar Flyover, VSS Nagar, Capital Toyota, World Skill Center.
5:20 pm to 6:00 pm: World Skill Center, Capital Toyota, VSS Nagar Flyover, VSS Nagar, Rasulgarh Square, Vani Vihar Flyover, Acharya Vihar Flyover, Jaydev Vihar Flyover, CRP Flyover, Fire Station Flyover, Baramunda Flyover, Khandagiri Flyover, Cosmopolis Square, Dumduma Underpass, Gail Station Underpass.
7:15 pm to 7:35 pm: Gail Station Underpass, Dumduma Underpass, Kolathia Square, Khandagiri Square, Jagamara Square, Gandamunda Square, Kala Bhoomi Odisha Craft Museum.

January 18 (Saturday):

5:25 pm to 6:00 pm: Gail Station Underpass, Khandagiri Flyover, Baramunda Flyover, Patra Electronics Front Service Road, Fire Station Square, Delta Square, City Women’s Square, OUAT Square, Gopabandhu Square, Raj Bhavan Square, AG Square, Hospital Square, Airport Square.
These restrictions will not apply to emergency vehicles such as fire engines and ambulances. The public is requested to plan their routes accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the restricted hours.
